Legacy Dinner

Celebrate your family's rich Ohio State tradition. This special event recognizes the families who have multiple generations of Buckeyes. Families and students will take part in a pinning ceremony, where participants will receive a special commemorative Buckeye pin.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is intended for students with family members that have also attended and are graduates of The Ohio State University. A legacy member includes, but is not limited to, a sibling, parent or grandparent.

The Legacy Dinner will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 beginning at 7 p.m. ET (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom, located on the 2nd floor of the Ohio Union. Please note that this event is NOT included as part of Buckeye Family Day. Registration for Buckeye Family Day is NOT required to attend the Legacy Dinner event.

Registration will open on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at noon ET.

While you wait for the registration window to open, don't forget to create a Buckeye Family Connection account. In addition to hosting our event registration, the Buckeye Family Connection is Ohio State's primary communication platform for parents and families of current Ohio State students. Once the registration window opens, a link to register will be posted on this page.

After you register, we would love to see and hear about your family's Buckeye legacy story! Please submit your story and photos of all Buckeye legacies during their time at Ohio State to parentandfamily@osu.edu.


Frequently Asked Questions

Who is permitted to attend?

All attending families must have at least one currently enrolled Ohio State student AND one family member (e.g. a sibling, parent or grandparent) that is a graduate of The Ohio State University. Additional guests are also invited as long as one current student and one Ohio State graduate is attending.

What is the cost to register?

Everyone that plans to attend, including students, must have a paid registration for entry. The cost to attend is $40 per person, which includes your meal selection.

What meal options are available?

The Legacy Dinner 2026 menu consists of four entree options:

  • Slow Roasted Gerber Chicken Breast
  • All Beef Meatloaf
  • Grilled Eggplant Parmesan (vegetarian)
  • Marinated Cauliflower (vegan)

All meals are served with a salad and dessert, as well as water, tea and coffee. See the menu details on the registration form for more information about each option.
