First Year Families
A student’s first year at college is a time of tremendous growth and development. The successes of this first year are the building blocks for a student’s time at Ohio State. Family support during this critical transition year is essential for the creation of a sound foundation for learning. Ohio State offers many resources, programs, and information for first year students and families to assist in the creation of this success. From Orientation to Parent and Family Weekend to the First Year Success Series, we hope students and families will utilize the available resources for student growth.
The Office of First Year Experience (FYE) places special emphasis on building the skills necessary to be successful in college. Through research and experience, FYE knows that the foundations built during the first year are key to a student’s success. Once you’re admitted to Ohio State, First Year Experience picks up where Admissions leaves off—you’ll see FYE staff at orientation, summer programs, and initiatives throughout the first year.
FYE has a special website to assist students, parents, and family members in their transitions during this critical first year. Access the FYE Website.
