Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate

Ohio State views student success as a true partnership between the university, students and their families. With a student at Ohio State, parents, families and supports are members of our Buckeye Family. We invite our families to campus to experience game day on campus during our Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate. As part of the game day experience, families will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the football game and enjoy an outdoor tailgate before kickoff.
Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate 2025 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, prior to the home football game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. More information, including the time of the event, will be shared via the Buckeye Family Connection and on this page as it is confirmed. Registration for the tailgate will open this summer.
Please note: Registration for the Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate does not include tickets to the football game.

When does registration open for Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate?
Registration will open in the summer (late June or early July). More information will be shared on this page once a registration time is confirmed.
When do tickets to the football game become available for purchase?
Reminder: Tickets to the tailgate do not include tickets to the football game. They are separate processes, but we will provide details about each to families interested in attending one or both opportunities.
Single-game tickets go on sale in the summer (usually in June) and tickets to the game against Minnesota will go on sale at the same time as other games. Once an on-sale date has been finalized, we will update this page with more information.
My student wants to purchase a football ticket package. When can they purchase one and how does the process work?
Student football ticket packages will go on sale prior to single-game on-sale. Encourage your student to check their Buckeyemail over the summer (likely in May) for information about requesting a ticket package. If my student purchases a student ticket package, is the game against Minnesota included?
Yes. Both the Big Ten package and the full season package will include a ticket to the game against Minnesota.
My student has a student ticket package but I would like to sit with them for the Minnesota game. How can I do that?
Student ticket packages include seats within one of the student sections. As a result, you would not be able to sit with your student using their ticket for that game. For this game, we recommend that you purchase an additional ticket for your student to sit in general seating. Then, your student can give their student ticket to another Buckeye for the Minnesota game.
What time is the tailgate?
The start and end time for Buckeye Football and Family Tailgate is determined by the kick-off time of the game. Once a kick-off time has been set, we will announce the official time for the tailgate on this page and via email to registered attendees.
